Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the exceptional student interns of the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program, who have proven themselves invaluable in supporting the members and staff of the House, state executive agencies, and the Office of the Governor; and Whereas, under the leadership of Joshua Meyer-Gutbrod, Ph.D., the undergraduate internship program has completed its sixth semester of service. During the 2025-2026 academic year, the program hosted one hundred five students in a variety of internships, including sixty-eight students in the spring and fifty-four students in the fall. Of these, thirty-one served in state executive agencies, seventeen in the House of Representatives, and ten in the Senate. Additionally, students contributed to federal offices, law firms, and campaign organizations; and Whereas, participation in the program requires students to complete a 120-hour internship during the semester and to enroll in a course on state government at the University of South Carolina. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and express sincere gratitude to the outstanding student interns who have dedicated their time and talents to serving the State of South Carolina through the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program.
