Bill overview
This bill modifies existing state law to allow for greater flexibility in the use of unexpended state aid allocated to nonpublic schools. Currently, if a school district receives more state aid than it spends on supporting nonpublic schools, the unspent funds must be returned. This bill would permit those unspent funds to be used to support other nonpublic school programs instead, or to fund the Nonpublic Technology Initiative. The bill also adjusts the calculation methods for determining state aid amounts for various nonpublic school programs.
