This bill requires the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to conduct a comprehensive study on the environmental, infrastructural, and financial impacts of data center development within the state. The study must examine energy consumption, water usage, effects on the electric grid and air quality, land use, potential environmental degradation, and fiscal impacts like utility rates. The BPU will also be tasked with recommending legislative actions to mitigate any negative consequences of data center development.
