Overview
This bill allows physician assistants (PAs) in behavioral health care to provide procedures and services without direct supervision from a physician. It defines ‘behavioral health care’ as services for mental illness, emotional disorders, or substance use disorders. To qualify, PAs must have completed more than 5,000 hours of relevant experience and complete continuing education in pharmacology. The bill also outlines reporting requirements for PAs and clarifies that certain provisions related to physician signatures apply to PAs in this field.
