Overview
This bill, the "Compassionate Spousal Visits for Veterans Act," creates a grant program to help spouses of veterans travel to long-term care facilities or VA medical centers for visits. The program will reimburse spouses for transportation costs using NJ Transit, county transportation, or private vehicles, provided they aren't already covered by other programs. It also requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to establish a monitoring system and ensure appropriate liability insurance is in place, and allocates $500,000 to fund the initiative.
