Overview
This bill changes how the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) handles voter registration prompts. It prevents the MVC from automatically asking non-citizens to register to vote when they visit an office and present identification showing they are not U.S. citizens. The MVC will no longer prompt these individuals and will not transmit this information to the Secretary of State. This aims to protect the privacy of non-citizens and ensure they are not inappropriately encouraged to register to vote.
