Overview
This bill designates accounting as a STEM subject for various educational and other programs in New Jersey. It establishes a program within the Higher Education Department to assist institutions in recruiting and retaining underrepresented students in STEM, including accounting. The legislation also creates an outreach program to encourage young women and minorities to pursue STEM degrees and careers, and establishes a STEM Loan Redemption Program to help graduates repay student loans in high-growth STEM fields. Finally, it reclassifies Kean University as an urban research university.
