Bill overview
This bill, titled the ‘Local Teacher Licensure Act,’ creates a new process for teacher licensure in Oklahoma. It authorizes school district boards of education to evaluate and recommend teacher licensure or certification applications to the State Board of Education. The State Board of Education will then review these recommendations, with a final decision made within 30 days, unless the district board fails to act, in which case the license is automatically approved, provided it meets all requirements. Teacher licenses will be valid for five years and subject to renewal.
