Bill overview
This Oklahoma bill, SB 970, changes the rules regarding notice in child custody cases. It requires a custodial parent to be notified if a noncustodial parent is unable to fulfill court-ordered visitation or other requirements due to in-patient treatment. Importantly, the noncustodial parent is not required to disclose the reason for their inability to comply, though violating this provision could result in indirect contempt of court. The bill also includes an effective date of November 1, 2025.
