Bill overview
The Honor Our Commitment Act of 2026 aims to protect Vietnamese nationals who immigrated to the United States before July 12, 1995, and have lived continuously in the U.S. since then, particularly those with final removal orders. It prevents their removal from the country starting on the bill’s enactment date, with a limited exception for individuals deemed a security risk or subject to extradition. The bill also mandates that the Department of Homeland Security authorize these individuals for employment and provides notice of the Act’s provisions to those affected. Finally, it establishes a process for legal challenges if the Act’s protections are violated.
