Bill overview
The Release Your Taxes Act of 2026 would require current and prospective members of Congress, as well as congressional candidates, to publicly disclose their federal income tax returns. The Clerk of the House and the Secretary of the Senate would establish and maintain a database of these returns, which would be made available to the public. Individuals holding these positions would be required to submit their tax returns within a specified timeframe, and non-compliance would be publicly noted for a set period.
