Bill overview
The Medicare Advantage Improvement Act of 2026 aims to improve access to timely care for Medicare Advantage enrollees by requiring plans to respond more quickly to authorization requests. It also reduces timeframes for expedited organization determinations and enhances transparency by requiring Medicare Advantage organizations to report prior authorization data. The bill introduces a compliance scoring program to hold Medicare Advantage organizations accountable for meeting quality standards and expands the MA star ratings program to include a new domain focused on program compliance and coverage protection. Finally, it prohibits requiring certain authorizations for clinically necessary service adjustments.
