Bill overview
The Airpower Acceleration Act of 2026 authorizes the Secretary of Defense to enter into multi-year contracts for the procurement of F-35 and F-15EX fighter aircraft. It also allows for advance procurement of key components and modifies the Air Force’s inventory requirements for fighter aircraft, aiming to increase the total number of combat-coded fighter aircraft to a specified level by 2035. Finally, the bill proposes increasing the F-15EX aircraft fleet size.
