Bill overview
This bill directs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate potential anti-competitive practices within the oil and gas industry that could be driving up gas prices for consumers. The FTC will examine whether companies are limiting fuel supply, engaging in stock buybacks, or otherwise using their resources in ways that inflate costs. The commission is required to report its findings and recommendations to Congress within a year, and annually for the following two years, to help inform potential legislative or administrative actions to promote fair and transparent gas prices.
