Bill overview
This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the U.S. Constitution aimed at clarifying and strengthening the definition of U.S. citizenship. Specifically, it restricts the application of certain provisions of the 14th Amendment – which grants citizenship to those born in the U.S. – to only those born to U.S. citizen parents or meeting specific immigration status requirements. The amendment seeks to ensure that only individuals with established connections to the United States are considered U.S. citizens for constitutional purposes. It would require Congress to enact legislation to implement these changes.
