Bill overview
This bill requires organizations that provide services to homeless individuals and organizations that operate shelters to participate in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). HMIS will be used to track the occupancy of shelter beds, providing a more accurate picture of available housing resources. The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) or the Office of Homelessness Prevention (OHP) will be responsible for establishing rules and regulations for HMIS participation and providing grants to support this effort. This aims to improve coordination and data collection to better address homelessness in New Jersey.
