Overview
This bill requires all students in grades six through twelve attending public or nonpublic schools in New Jersey to undergo a physical examination that includes a cardiac component. The physical exam must be conducted by a licensed physician, advanced practice nurse, or physician assistant, who must also complete a professional development module on student-athlete cardiac screening. Schools are required to retain records of these examinations to verify the qualifications of the healthcare provider.
