Overview
The Property Tax Relief Act makes changes to how the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and the School Employees’ Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) are administered. It limits reimbursement for certain medical procedures, such as knee and hip replacements, MRIs, and colonoscopies, to the lesser of the contract price, billed price, or a reference price. The bill also establishes a process for evaluating these reimbursement limits and requires employers (other than the state) to determine if they want to participate in the SHBP. Finally, it modifies provisions related to the SHBP Commission’s structure and responsibilities.
