Bill overview
This bill aims to remove legal protections that prevent U.S. courts from hearing lawsuits against certain foreign businesses. Specifically, it expands the jurisdiction of U.S. courts over foreign entities incorporated in countries where state-owned or controlled businesses also operate and engage in commercial activity within the United States. The bill clarifies that corporate affiliates of these foreign entities can also be subject to U.S. court jurisdiction if they hold a majority stake in the foreign business.
