Bill overview
The Food and Fuel Consumer Protection Act of 2019 aims to address what’s known as the ‘ethanol blend wall’ within the renewable fuel program. It limits the total amount of ethanol that can be blended into gasoline to 9.70% of projected gasoline demand, as determined by the Energy Information Administration. The bill also establishes a process for the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure this limit is met and outlines consequences if the agency fails to meet established deadlines for determining renewable fuel obligations.
