Bill overview
The BREATHE Act aims to improve air quality by strengthening regulations on pollutants released from oil and gas operations. It changes the Clean Air Act to allow emissions from oil and gas wells, pipelines, and compressor stations to be treated as a major source, similar to other industrial facilities. The bill also requires the Environmental Protection Agency to formally list hydrogen sulfide as a hazardous air pollutant and update regulations to cover sources of this pollutant, including oil and gas wells.
