Bill overview
The Automotive Jobs Act of 2019 directs the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) to conduct a comprehensive study of the economic health and vitality of the U.S. automotive industry. This study will examine factors like job numbers, manufacturing facilities, and the impact of automotive plants on local economies. Simultaneously, the bill delays a separate investigation by the Department of Commerce regarding potential national security implications of automotive imports until the USITC completes its study and the President decides not to reopen the Commerce investigation.
