Bill overview
This bill, the No Congressional Gun Loophole Act, restricts the ability of Members of Congress and their staff to carry firearms on Capitol grounds and within the Capitol building. It prohibits the Capitol Police Board from allowing these individuals to carry firearms, with limited exceptions for storing firearms in their personal vehicles parked in Capitol complex garages, provided they comply with D.C. firearms laws and the firearms are secured with a gun lock. Existing regulations allowing firearms in offices and transportation within the Capitol remain in place unless specifically approved for security reasons. The bill aims to enhance security within the U.S. Capitol.
