This bill, the Home Office Deduction Act of 2020, temporarily allows employees to deduct expenses related to working from home during the period of March 13, 2020, through December 31, 2020. It achieves this by excluding these deductions from itemized deductions for those who don't itemize and by reducing taxable income for those who do. The deduction is limited to expenses exceeding 2% of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income, and further phased out for higher-income taxpayers.
