Bill overview
The Energy Efficient Qualified Improvement Property Act (E-QUIP Act) allows businesses to depreciate energy-efficient improvements to buildings – like lighting, heating, and cooling systems – over a 10-year period instead of the usual shorter timeframe. These improvements must meet specific energy performance standards and be installed in buildings that were not in service more than 10 years ago. The bill also requires a report to Congress on the impact of this tax incentive.
