Bill overview
This bill amends the Food Security Act of 1985 to increase the number of acres that can be enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). The CRP is a program that pays farmers to take environmentally sensitive land out of agricultural production. Specifically, the bill authorizes a gradual increase in the number of acres enrolled each year from fiscal year 2021 through 2025, prioritizing applications that benefit soil health and carbon sequestration, including the planting of deep-rooted perennials.
