Bill overview
The Veterans Community Care Fairness Act aims to improve accountability and transparency within the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Veterans Community Care Program. Currently, the VA can authorize emergency care at non-VA facilities without requiring veterans to report on the services received. This bill requires veterans admitted to emergency care at non-VA facilities to notify the VA within 30 days of their admission about the care they received. This notification is a condition for the VA to authorize the emergency care.
