Bill overview
The Protecting Rural Housing Act of 2020 aims to address housing affordability challenges in rural communities by establishing a pilot grant program. This program will provide funding to state and local governments, Indian tribes, and nonprofit organizations to develop or rehabilitate affordable housing for low-income families. The bill also directs the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to investigate ways to hold landlords accountable for program violations and requires a study of the Rural Housing Service’s homeownership outreach efforts.
