Bill overview
The Energy Opportunity Zones Act of 2020 aims to stimulate economic development in areas impacted by the decline of the coal and nuclear energy industries. It creates ‘energy opportunity zones’ near these plants and provides tax credits for businesses and property located within these zones, including incentives for offshore wind and energy storage projects. The bill also extends and modifies existing tax credits for energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings, and establishes a new credit for qualified labor agreements on construction projects.
