Bill overview
The Health Smart Air Travel Act (HSAT Act) directs the Department of Transportation (DOT) to establish a pilot program to improve how public health risks are managed in airports and on passenger aircraft. This program will provide grants to various entities – including states, airlines, airports, and research institutions – to develop, test, and evaluate new technologies and procedures. The DOT, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services will work together to identify challenges and share data to inform ongoing efforts to improve aviation safety and public health.
