Bill overview
The CSA Reform Act aims to improve safety in the trucking industry by establishing a standard of care for brokers and other entities that contract with motor carriers. It requires these entities to verify that the motor carriers they work with are properly registered, insured, and deemed safe to operate. The Department of Transportation will also create a process for revoking registration of unfit motor carriers and establish a pilot program for remote safety compliance reviews to assign safety ratings, ultimately enhancing oversight and accountability within the commercial motor vehicle sector.
