Bill overview
The Telehealth Improvement for Kids’ Essential Services Act (TIKES Act) aims to expand access to telehealth services for children covered by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It directs the Department of Health and Human Services to provide guidance to states on strategies to overcome barriers to telehealth, and it tasks the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission with studying the impact of telehealth on healthcare outcomes and costs. Additionally, the bill requires the Government Accountability Office to evaluate federal agency collaboration on telehealth services for young people.
