Bill overview
The Telehealth Act aims to expand access to telehealth services across the United States. It clarifies licensure requirements for healthcare professionals providing telemedicine, particularly for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and makes permanent certain Medicare flexibilities initially implemented during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The bill also seeks to permanently allow federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics to furnish telehealth services and addresses fraud and abuse concerns related to telehealth technologies. Furthermore, it enhances access to behavioral health services through telehealth and establishes a national telehealth program to promote equitable access across state lines.
