Bill overview
The Native Chamorro Equity Act aims to support and promote economic opportunities for Native Chamorro people in the United States. It establishes a Chamorro Registry to verify ancestry and allows Native Chamorro organizations to participate in federal contracting programs, specifically the 8(a) and HUBZone programs. The bill defines ‘Native Chamorro Organization’ and provides a pathway for these organizations to be considered as socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses, increasing their access to government contracts.
