Bill overview
This bill, the Emergency Assistance for Rural Water Systems Act, aims to provide financial support to rural water and waste disposal systems across the United States that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be able to offer grants, low-interest loans, loan forgiveness, and loan modifications to help these systems maintain public health and safety, address financial difficulties, and ensure their long-term stability. The bill allocates $1 billion to fund these efforts through December 31, 2021.
