The Behavioral Health Coordination and Communication Act of 2020 establishes a new position within the Executive Office of the President – the Interagency Coordinator for Behavioral Health – to improve coordination and communication among federal agencies regarding mental health and substance use disorders. The Coordinator will work to create a framework for care, identify best practices, and establish a knowledge center to provide information to the public. Additionally, the bill directs the Coordinator to conduct studies and submit reports on various aspects of behavioral health services, including disparities and reimbursement models.
