Bill overview
The Represent America Abroad Act of 2020 aims to increase diversity within the U.S. Foreign Service by establishing a new program to recruit mid-career professionals from minority groups. This program, called the Represent America Mid-Career Foreign Service Entry Program, will be administered jointly by the Director General of the Foreign Service and the Director of Global Talent Management. The legislation requires the State Department to actively recruit candidates through various channels and provide them with mentorship and training to prepare them for a career in diplomacy, ultimately reflecting the diversity of the American people.
