Bill overview
This bill, the National Statuary Hall Collection Policy Act, changes the rules for replacing statues in National Statuary Hall. Currently, a state needed legislative and gubernatorial approval, and the statue had to be displayed for at least 10 years. This bill adds a new requirement: at least two-thirds of the members of Congress representing the state must also approve the statue’s removal before it can be replaced.
