Bill overview
The Healthy Skies Act directs the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to conduct a pilot program at 10 airports to screen passengers' temperatures before they enter the secure area of an airport. If a passenger’s temperature exceeds the CDC’s fever threshold, they would be denied access to the sterile area. The TSA must also develop a process to determine if a high temperature is due to a medical condition other than a pandemic illness. This pilot program is temporary and will end when the COVID-19 public health emergency is over.
