The Informing Consumers about Smart Devices Act requires manufacturers of internet-connected devices with cameras or microphones to clearly disclose this feature to consumers. This applies to devices like smart appliances but excludes common devices like smartphones and laptops. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will enforce this law, and the FTC will provide guidance to manufacturers on how to comply. The law takes effect 180 days after the FTC issues its guidance.
