Bill overview
The Health Enterprise Zones Act of 2020 aims to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes in designated areas. It establishes a process for identifying ‘Health Enterprise Zones’ – typically low-income areas with documented health challenges – and provides them with opportunities for grants, student loan repayment assistance, and tax credits. The bill also encourages employers to hire workers from these zones and increases Medicare payments for services provided there. It requires the Department of Health and Human Services to consult with other agencies and establish a reporting system to track the program’s effectiveness.
