Bill overview
This bill creates a grant program to help public health laboratories and other labs purchase high-throughput diagnostic equipment and supplies. The goal is to increase testing capacity and speed up the process of getting test results. Eligible labs include state, local, and tribal labs, as well as those participating in CDC-coordinated networks or providing population-based testing. The bill also authorizes $250 million for fiscal year 2020 to fund these grants.
