Bill overview
The Jump-Start the American Economy Act aims to provide additional support to recently unemployed individuals who previously received pandemic unemployment benefits. Specifically, it allows states to offer up to six weeks of reemployment assistance to those who have returned to work but were previously eligible for federal pandemic unemployment compensation. This assistance is contingent on the individual’s weekly wages not exceeding their previous unemployment benefits, as determined by state law. The bill modifies existing unemployment assistance provisions to facilitate this new program.
