Bill overview
This bill directs the President to use the Defense Production Act to require the emergency production of supplies needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, such as personal protective equipment, diagnostic tests, and vaccines. The President must determine that these supplies are essential for national defense, identify private sector capacity, and establish fair prices. Distribution of these supplies will be coordinated with state governors based on their needs and the populations of each state. The process will end when there are no further requests for these supplies, and any unused supplies will be stored in the Strategic National Stockpile.
