Bill overview
This bill, the Internet Application Integrity and Disclosure Act, requires online sellers and distributors of mobile applications to clearly inform users if the app is owned, even partially, by the Chinese Communist Party or a non-state-owned entity located in China. The goal is to increase transparency about the ownership of apps and prevent users from unknowingly using applications linked to the Chinese government. If a seller provides false information about ownership, they could face penalties under federal law. The Federal Trade Commission will be responsible for enforcing this legislation.
