Bill overview
This bill, the MIND Act, temporarily changes Medicaid rules to allow federal funding for mental healthcare services provided in institutions for mental diseases (IMDs) during and for 180 days after the COVID-19 public health emergency. Currently, Medicaid generally doesn't cover these services for adults under 65. The bill removes this restriction during the emergency period and for a short time afterward, aiming to ensure access to mental healthcare during a critical time.
