Bill overview
This bill, the Sending Outside Support Act of 2020 (SOS Act), aims to help states respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities. It directs the Department of Health and Human Services to provide $500 million in funding to states. These funds will be used to create and deploy ‘strike teams’ – teams of healthcare professionals – to facilities experiencing COVID-19 cases to assist with clinical care, infection control, and staffing needs.
