Bill overview
The Helping Hospitals in Need Act provides an additional $100 billion to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund. This funding will be directed towards hospitals and healthcare providers that serve a large number of uninsured or low-income patients, and to states with high per capita hospitalization rates for COVID-19. The goal is to support hospitals and states most impacted by the pandemic and ensure access to care for vulnerable populations. This legislation builds upon existing COVID-19 relief efforts.
