Bill overview
The MAIL Act increases the amount of federal funding states receive for Medicaid coverage of outpatient drugs, specifically including medications ordered through mail-order pharmacies. Starting April 1, 2020, states that provide this coverage will see a 1 percentage point increase in their FMAP, up to a maximum of 100%. The bill also requires states to allow Medicaid recipients to fill prescriptions for up to a 90-day supply at a time, removing certain cost-sharing and management restrictions.
