Bill overview
The Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0 redirects civil penalties paid to pharmaceutical companies by the Securities and Exchange Commission to a fund supporting pediatric disease research. This fund, known as the 10-Year Pediatric Research Initiative Fund, will be bolstered by these penalties. The legislation also directs the National Institutes of Health to prioritize pediatric research within this fund that doesn’t duplicate existing research efforts, and encourages coordination of NIH funding for pediatric disease research.
